There is no need to leave the neighbourhood on Saturday October 15 – here’s why….
1. Start your day with the Central Art Walk. Saturday October 15, 10am – 5pm & Sunday October 16, 12pm – 5pm
“The Central Art Walk is a yearly studio tour and sale in the beautiful Kitchener neighbourhoods bounded by King, Victoria, Weber, and Union streets. Come visit, and get a chance to see artists in their own studios, displaying fine art, jewelery, paintings, food, photography, pottery, glass, collage and fibre arts.”
You can download & print the Central Art Walk brochure and map or pick up a copy at some neighbourhood locations like Central Fresh Market and Ambrosia Pastry. If you miss some locations on Saturday, you can always go visit the rest on Sunday October 16. This is a great opportunity to see how talented your neighbours are!
Find Central Art Walk on Facebook.
2. Then, join the Guelph Street Community Garden for a fall clean up. Saturday October 15, 1:30-3:30
Bring a water bottle, work gloves, garden snips & a snack if you want one. If enough people bring a snack we can end with a break & visit. Working side by side, we can also do some dreaming about next year.
We will be working to put the garden to bed for the winter by cleaning out the garden plots, chopping plant material into the compost, tidying & cleaning the shed and building one more raised bed. We have some compost ready for spreading on the plots.
You don’t even need to be a garden member to come help out. If you have enjoyed the garden and park this summer and haven’t had enough gardening yet…. you are more than welcome to join us for a few hours of gardening and community.
Find the Guelph Street Community Garden on Facebook or subscribe to their blog for updates.
3. Finally, Soupstock 2016! Saturday October 15, 4-7pm

After your hard work of the day – exploring, gardening, meeting neighbours – join everyone for an outdoor meal of delicious, hot soups & stews.
Meet on DeKay Street, between Shanley St & Briar Ave.
