Guest post from Michelle Buckner
Christmas is going to be here before we know it so I am connecting ahead of time about our annual Christmas stocking event.
Family, friends, kids and neighbours all welcome! Please share!
Our event will be at the WALES portable ( behind the old Sacred Heart church on Moore ave)
Saturday December 7th
4:00 – 7:00pm
We will be having a potluck and then packing the “stockings”. Come for both or just to pack stockings. Our goal this year is 250 stockings!

These stockings will be going to the street outreach team at the Kitchener Downtown Community Health Centre. This amazing team supports hard to reach street involved people and those facing homelessness. My work colleagues report that these have brought countless smiles to those they serve.
Here is a list of items we are collecting:
- Socks
- Hats
- Mitts
- Hand warmers
- Lip chap
- Feminine hygiene products
- Non perishable snacks ie. soft granola bars, cereal bars, chips- anything individually packaged.
- Tooth brushes
- Tooth paste (travel size)
- Shampoo (travel size)
- Condoms
- Band aides
We will also be decorating the stockings so any donations of Christmas stickers, markers, etc would be great. No glitter please!I
f you would like to donate but can’t come to the event, please consider leaving items on my front porch at 8 Dekay Street.
Looking forward to celebrating the season of giving with you, neighbours!

Just a reminder, the annual December potluck and stocking event is this Saturday December 7. Read the previous post for details about what to bring.
If you can’t make it to the event but want to contribute items for the stockings, there are details for that too.
See you there!
