SATURDAY

It’s Jane’s Walk Weekend! The annual extravaganza of citizen-led walks in honour of urban activist and advocate Jane Jacobs. Jane’s Walks are free, locally organized walking tours, in which people get together to explore, talk about and celebrate their neighbourhoods. Where more traditional tours are a bit like walking lectures, a Jane’s Walk is more of a walking conversation. Leaders share their knowledge, but also encourage discussion and participation among the walkers.

There are 34 walks to choose from in Waterloo Region, located in Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo. They begin bright & early Friday morning, straight through to late Sunday afternoon. This requires some strategic planning! Look for Jane’s Walk Waterloo Region on Twitter | Facebook | Instagram #janeswalkwr

4 great walks in Midtown on Saturday

If you have not been on Wayne Miedema’s Mount Hope Cemetery walk… you need to go! Wayne is a wonderful storyteller and weaves together a history of Kitchener’s early days, told through the headstones and memorials you will find in our neighbourhood cemetery.
