Never a dull moment in local planning news! The latest (and apologies for short notice) is that the PART proposal is going to council on Monday. Many of you participated in the public outreach meetings. I’ve managed to look through a lot of the plan, and there are some exciting ideas–street trees, better pedestrian and bike connectivity, stormwater management and eco-landscaping, new parks, and more. Although time is short, you can comment before or at the meeting–on things that still concern you, or things you like. The proposed changes will require financial investments to bring them to fruition, so it’s important for the city to hear which are highest priority for those in the neighbourhood.

Notice of Presentation of the
Planning Around Rapid Transit Stations (PARTS): PARTS Midtown Plan
The City of Kitchener, and their consultant Urban Strategies (USI), have prepared the PARTS Midtown Plan for the area shown in the map below. The intent of the plan is to illustrate the most appropriate land uses, cultural heritage considerations, streetscapes and infrastructure requirements including a plan for transportation addressing pedestrian, bicycle, transit and road issues as well as traffic in general, within about a 10 minute walk of the ION rapid transit station stops
The meeting to consider the PARTS Midtown Plan will be held by a Committee of Council on:
MONDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.
COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 2nd FLOOR, CITY HALL
200 KING STREET WEST, KITCHENER.

Note: The PARTS Rockway Plan will NOT be considered at the October 2nd Committee meeting. It is anticipated that the PARTS Rockway Plan will be considered at a future Committee meeting later this year. Notice of this meeting date will be posted on the website.
