Open house to review revised Breithaupt Block Phase 3 development

Save two dates on your calendar: Tuesday June 5 & Monday June 25.

As you know, on April 16, 2018 Kitchener City Council deferred final approval of the Official Plan Amendment & Zone Change Application request for the Briethaupt Block development until the Kitchener City Council meeting scheduled for June 25, 2018. The purpose of the deferral was to allow further discussion/negotiations between neighbourhood residents, city planners and developers.

In a letter to residents, Planning staff shared this information:

Planning staff are anticipating a revised development concept in the coming weeks, which will be posted online and also presented for review at a drop in information meeting scheduled for:

TUESDAY, JUNE 5, 2018
6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
KITCHENER CITY HALL
ROTUNDA, MAIN FLOOR
200 KING STREET WEST, KITCHENER

As this invitation is being sent in advance of receiving the revised development concept, in order to provide suitable notice for the open house, details on the revised concept are not available at this time.  Planning Staff understand that the Developer is still working on a revised proposal, which will be posted on the City’s consultation webpage at https://www.kitchener.ca/en/planning-and-development-consultations.aspx the second last week of May.

If you would like to speak at the June 25, 2018 Kitchener Council Meeting, please register in advance online at https://www.kitchener.ca/en/city-services/appear-as-a-delegation.aspx. Written submissions may also be sent to the City Clerk’s Office, 200 King Street West – 2nd Floor, Kitchener, ON, N2G 4G7. Any person may attend the public meeting and make written and/or verbal representation either in support of, or in opposition to, the proposed Official Plan Amendment and Zone Change applications.

If a person or public body would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of the City of Kitchener to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal, but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the City of Kitchener prior to approval/refusal of these proposals, the person or public body may not be entitled to appeal the decision.

As of today, Friday May 25, the revised plans are not yet available on the Consultations section of the website. They will be shared here as soon as they are posted.
