Guest Post from Michelle Buckner & neighbours organizing the 2020 Stocking Stuffer event.
This year our annual Midtown Christmas stocking event is going to look a little different…..but the need hasn’t changed. This has always been a very successful community event and I want to thank everyone who is willing to help those who experience homelessness in our region. The stockings will be distributed by the Kitchener Downtown Community Health Centre’s large outreach team at shelters, clinics and on the street.
This year we will be asking people to donate self care items/ small snacks in the next two weeks – see list below.
We have several addresses where the items can be dropped off, stored for a week, then divided up and assembled, and then finally left to sit for a week before delivery. Sadly we will not be having a social event this year.

Here is the list of items needed:
- Feminine hygiene products
- Lip chap
- Tooth brushes
- Mini toothpaste
- Socks
- Travel size personal care items- shampoo, etc
- Band aides
- Small prepackaged snacks- easy to chew
- Hand sanitizer
- Mitts
- Hand/foot warmers
- Condoms
- Razors,
- Hand lotion
- Masks
- We have a large donation of hats so we do not need anymore!
If you are hoping to donate items to our stocking stuffing event but are not comfortable shopping for items, the team of organizers plans to do a big shop soon. Cash donations are welcome. Please email me privately if you would like to contribute.
Deliver your items
You can drop off items for the holiday stockings at the following locations:
- 91 Stanley street
- 8 Dekay street
- 80 Louisa street
Please put items in the boxes on the porch. We will be collecting items until December 15th. If you have any questions please contact Michelle.
Again thanks for your help and support. I will keep you posted on how the distribution is going. Your kindness is appreciated.
