Well done neighbours, friends and supporters…. together we successfully raised $5000 to cover the expenses associated with the expert witness report for the Breithaupt Block Phase 3 development appeal. Legal costs were covered by the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT) Support Centre.
Between door admissions, drink sales, raffle tickets, face painting and matching donations from two households and great music from Ted Parkinson, Sunday’s fundraiser at Descendant’s Beer & Beverage Co. put us over the top!
Again, thanks to Catherine Owens and Dawn Parker for getting the hardest work done on this project.
One more thing…
The LPAT Support Centre has been defunded by the current Ontario government. They have stopped taking any new cases and the centre will close at the end of June. The staff and the Support Centre were instrumental in this appeal and essential for levelling the playing field. How else can neighbours launch a legal appeal of a planning decision against players with significantly deeper pockets…
