After the official events, we hosted a short walking tour to visit the front yards of the two grand prize winners in order to see their “before” state! We also visited the intersection of Dekay St & Shanley to see where stormwater run off from three downhill streets converges in a low area and causes no end of problems for the basements of homeowners at this intersection. The Rain Ready Neighbourhoods project hopes to address these kinds of issues by collecting more water in yards and diverting it before it gets to the streets.

Once the winners have developed a plan of action with the new RAIN Coach from REEP Green Solutions, there will be work parties so that you can learn from their front yard projects. Please watch for your invitation to participate this fall.
